Hi there..I've got this essay due in 7 days time and it's really a tricky one. It's a multi-topic essay and it's really eluded me.

52* In November 2008 the village of Grantchester, which has a population of 2,000 was hit by a violent storm. The damage to some property was limited to minor matters such as damage to roof tiles but other houses required complete building. Many people were injured to a greater or lesser degree, whilst three people were killed by falling trees. After the storm a trust fund was established which provided that:

“The trustees shall apply the income and capital of the fund to make such grants to the victim of the Grantchester disaster as they, in their absolute discretion, think fit. The payments shall be directed towards meeting the problems encountered by the victims as a result of the storm. Preference in making grants shall be given to the families of those killed in the storm.

The trustees seek your advice on the following questions:

1) Whether the trust is a valid charitable trust

AND

2) Whether the trust is a valid private trust.
