Forgery of a car's service history book - a crime?

Is it a crime to forge a service history book?
I am asking as I bought a car with last stamp in the book being fake. I wonder if Police would chase such thing? Is it more to do with trading standards?
If it is a criminal forgery then please point me to appropriate act.

    Kind regards,
    Alexunder

  2. Could be fraud by false representation under the Fraud Act 2006 if it is made with intent to make a gain or cause a loss. Not sure how willing the police would be to prosecute. If it is a car dealer it may be worth reporting to trading standards. If you are seeking to avoid the contract then the appropriate law would be misrepresentation. See here:Misrepresentation

Thank you Jess89. Looks like the trader lied about other things too but I did not record the conversation (I usually don't carry a recorder with me )
Looks like I will file a claim against him as he does not respond to my calls.
How legal is putting his details on a forum in order to make people aware of him?

  4. It could leave you and the website owner liable for defamation so probably best not to.
